Last month, Mall Silks completed an installation for a new church facility in the Chicago area. The contractor, J. G. Rock contacted Mall Silks concerning this fast track project about six weeks prior to the installation. The project was finalized and Mall Silks began to manufacture the trees. The trees were shipped on a Friday and the Mall Silks crew met the semi truck on site first thing Monday morning in Chicago. The project space was very tight and most of the final work was finished. So the crew had to take special care in getting the trees into the facility and not damage other facility fixtures. 

A special transport dolly developed by Mall Silks was used to cradle the large tree during shipment and to wheel it into the installation area. The children’s classroom areas of the building were made into themed environments. One of the areas resembled a “bus stop” and included the large tree that was built for the project. 

The second tree was installed in the “tree house” room and a small tree house was to be built after Mall Silks erected the tree.  The installation of the trees involved working on 20' scissor lifts to attach the limbs to the ceiling with cable. The trunk of the large tree was also bolted to the floor for stability. The small tree also had to be fabricated on site to fit around a steel support pole. The installation was completed on time and the client was very satisfied with the outcome. The trees took more than 140 man hours to build and over 80 man hours to install. More than 25,000 inherently fire retardant
pin oak and ficus leaves were used for the two tree canopies.
