Mall Silks Product – 12' Ficus Trees
Custom “Trees on Real Trunks”

This project profile showcases one of our most popular (if not the most popular) tree that Mall Silks sells. During the past couple of months, Mall Silks has built many of these trees for various clients and I am sure we will build many more before the year is through. Our Ficus benjamina tree is part of our “Trees on Real Trunks” artificial tree line.

These trees are built on a variety of real wood trunks and are foliated with artificial leaves. For trees this size, many hours go into fabricating the “skeleton” of the tree. Our designers add multiple limbs to the main trunk in order to make a beautiful tree structure that they can add artificial leaves to. The Ficus in particular are foliated with botanically correct Ficus benjamina silk foliage. (We also manufacture Ficus lyrata as well as Ficus alii trees.)

This project consisted of four 12' custom made “deluxe” Ficus benjamina trees. Deluxe just means that they were extra wide with a spread of at least 7' instead of the normal 6' spread. They also had three trunks per tree and contained about 20% more foliage than our standard 12' Ficus. Each tree took approximately 12-16 hours to build and contained more than 8,000 leaves. Each tree this size comes with a weighted 17" grow pot base to insert the trunks into in order to install them into decorative containers. This is included in the price of the tree. Optional steel bases are available at an additional cost. The client also ordered nice cylinder containers to display the trees in. They will be shipped and installed within the next few weeks and will be a beautiful addition to the decor for many years to come.

The second project to highlight this month from Mall Silks is a flowering tree project. Naturally, Wisteria is a vine type plant. However, the artificial foliage for this vine is so beautiful that Mall Silks decided to make a tree form of it. It is our best selling flowering tree and sure is a show stopper!

Our artificial Wisteria Tree is made on real dragonwood trunks and is part of our “Trees on Real Trunks” product line. Artificial purple or white Wisteria foliage, decked with many bloom clusters, is used for the foliage. For this project, 3 trees were custom made to order for the client and were shipped to a third party (by the way, if you require third party/direct shipment of a product to your client, we are happy to accommodate. We handle third party shipments on a regular basis. It saves your client time and freight costs.).

In addition to the Wisteria tree, Mall Silks also produces other flowering trees including Magnolia, Cherry Blossom, Apple Blossom, and Forsythia. If you are interested in having a custom flowering artificial tree made for a project, please let us know. We do accept special requests as well. If you do not see it in our catalog or on the website, it does not necessarily mean that we can not make it. Chances are we can.
